Why that one Pole Dance Class in 2007 turned into a weekly rhythm.
I didn't want to go to my first pole dance class. I went so my friend wouldn't be alone. I also didn't necessarily want to go to my second pole dance class even though it was a lot of fun but what I did want was the feeling I had after that class.
I felt so good.
I later learned that the good feeling I had was the feeling of doing something just for me.
I was raised in a pretty strict, religious household that put a lot of focus on doing for others which didn't often leave room for me doing something for myself. I wasn't happy with where I was or how I felt about myself and couldn't really remember a time that I was so I knew whatever I was doing wasn't working.
I had to make a change.
I chose to continue with pole dance. I felt silly at first because I didn't have any dance experience and I didn't feel sexy at all but, as I continued, I witnessed myself slowly becoming more confident and actually started to feel sexy. If you can relate with this at all, please know that I don't think that pole dance is the only option BUT I do think it is important to find something that gives you the same feeling pole dance gave me because it literally changed the trajectory of my life.
