We’re so excited to welcome you to our studio! If you’ve been curious about trying pole dance, our Intro to Pole Dance class is the perfect starting point for complete beginners. Here’s everything you need to know to get started, from signing up to arriving at the studio and beyond!

Step 1: Sign Up for Our Intro Class

No prior experience is necessary! Our Intro to Pole Dance class is designed specifically for beginners, so you’ll feel comfortable no matter your fitness level.

  • The focus is on teaching you the fundamentals in a comfortable, fun environment.

Step 2: Prepare for Class

We know trying something new can feel intimidating, so we’ve made it easy. Here’s what you need to know before your first class:

What to wear:

We recommend wearing shorts and a tank top or fitted top. Skin contact with the pole helps with gripping, so don’t worry about showing some skin—everyone’s in the same boat!​

Footwear:

No special shoes are required. Most students go barefoot, but feel free to wear socks with grips on the bottom if you’re more comfortable.

Fitness Level:

Don’t worry if you’re not flexible or super strong yet! This class is designed to help you gradually build strength and flexibility over time, so come as you are.

Step 3: What to Expect When You Arrive

It’s totally normal to have questions about what your first class will be like!

Here’s what you can expect once you step through our doors:
  • When you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and given time to check in.

  • We know parking can sometimes be tricky, so plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get settled.

  • Our studio is designed to be a judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable no matter your level.

Step 4: Learn the Basics

Once class begins, it’s all about learning the foundations of pole dance. Here’s what you’ll do during your session:

You’ll be surrounded by other beginners, and our instructors will be there to guide and encourage you throughout the class.

Step-by-Step Instruction:

Our instructor will break down each move so you can follow along at your own pace.

No Pressure to Be Perfect:

This class is all about learning and having fun, so there’s no need to feel pressured to nail every move right away!

Common Concerns

Not Enough Upper Body Strength:

Don't worry about your upper body strength! In the beginning, your arms mainly help you stay on the pole, and you'll build strength as you progress. Most people are surprised by how quickly they grow stronger and more skilled with consistent practice.

For those looking to build strength even faster, our Beginner Pole Dance or Beginner Pole Conditioning Class is an excellent choice. Whether you take it on its own or alongside your Pole Fun-damentals 1 course, this class focuses on exercises and techniques specifically designed to develop the muscles needed for pole dancing.

Feeling Awkward/No Dance Experience:

It's totally okay to feel awkward or lack dance experience! Our owner didn't have much dance experience when she started either. The feeling of awkwardness fades as you get more comfortable. Plus, we don’t generally notice awkwardness – we’re all here to learn and have fun together.

Not Feeling Sexy:

You don’t need to feel or be sexy to pole dance. Pole dancing is about learning something new, having fun, and enjoying the process. It’s a great way to express yourself and gain confidence without any pressure to be sexy.
